Hey aquarium enthusiasts! If you’re into aquascaping or just love keeping vibrant planted tanks, you’ve probably heard of Twinstar’s reputation for top tier LED lighting. The 2025 lineup, particularly the V series (fifth generation), is a game changer. With upgrades across the board, including the groundbreaking Advanced Spectrum V3.0, enhanced brightness, and smart Bluetooth controls, these lights are designed to make your aquatic plants thrive and your tank look stunning. In this blog, I’ll dive into the key features, the science behind the spectrum, and why this might be the upgrade your setup needs.
The Heart of the V Series: Advanced Spectrum V3.0
At the core of the new Twinstar V lights is the Advanced Spectrum V3.0, a full-spectrum LED system that is optimized for aquatic plant health and vivid color rendering. Unlike basic WRGB lights that rely on single chip RGB LEDs (which can produce artificial tones), Twinstar uses six individually tuned LED colors: super clear, high efficiency RGB LEDs combined with dedicated plant growth LEDs. This creates a broader, more balanced spectrum that covers wavelengths from 400 nm to 780 nm the full range plants need for photosynthesis.

Why the Spectrum Matters
Plants don’t just need bright light; they need the right light. Twinstar’s V3.0 delivers high Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD), which measures how much usable light reaches your plants. For example 600S V: 370 μmol/m²/s (measured at 20 cm)
Most aquatic plants grow well at 150–250 μmol/m²/s, but higher levels like these help with faster rooting and steadier growth. The spectrum is scientifically tuned to mimic natural sunlight, boosting photosynthesis while preventing algae overgrowth.
Here’s a breakdown of how different wavelengths contribute to plant growth, based on Twinstar’s insights:
| Wavelength Range | LED Type | Key Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| 400–500 nm | Blue LEDs | Promotes leaf development, compact growth, and strong stems. |
| 500–600 nm | Green LEDs | Minimal impact on growth; mainly for aesthetic color rendering. |
| 600–700 nm | Red LEDs | Essential for photosynthesis, flowering, and overall growth rate. |
| 700–780 nm | Deep Red LEDs | Supports root development, flowering, and stable biological rhythms. |
Compared to competitors typical single-chip WRGB, Twinstar’s spectrum is broader and more even. It has higher intensity in blue (~450 nm) and red (~660 nm) peaks for efficient photosynthesis, plus coverage from 530 nm to 730 nm for natural colors. The result? Richer, deeper tones that make your plants colors pop with vibrant reds in stem plants and lush greens in mosses.

Twinstar emphasizes that poor spectrum design can lead to stunted growth or algae issues, even with high brightness. V3.0 fixes that by balancing energy across the board.
New Features in the V Series

The V series isn’t just about the light, it’s a complete overhaul. Here’s what’s new for the premium S LINE V models:

- Plant Growth LEDs: Now included for optimized health.
- Spectrum: Advanced V3.0 for superior color and growth.
- Control Options :
- LightControl Pro (Bluetooth): Advanced features like 4-channel color customization, Boost Mode (for intense photosynthesis bursts), 100-step brightness, timers, sunrise/sunset (up to 60 minutes), and Light Planner (a 25-day program to help plants adapt).
- LightControl Standard (Bluetooth): Essential controls like brightness, timers, and sunrise/sunset.
- LightControl Manual: Simple buttons for 7 brightness levels, basic timers (6/8/10 hours), and 10-minute sunrise/sunset.
- Product Colors: S LINE in Titanium.
- Brightness Boost: S LINE (e.g., 600S): 4100 lm (up from 3400 lm in 4th Gen).
These updates make the lights more efficient and user friendly, especially for pros who want to simulate natural daylight cycles.

Hello Luis,
Is there any content available somewhere on how to add a light in the application and if it is possible to control two lights at the same time in the application?
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Milan
Hi Milan.
Group control is not possible so far, maybe in the future.
Check the twinstar.eu video here, it covers all about the light setup.
Best Regards,
Luís Cardoso
Hi Luis,
Thank you very much. How can I control two lights on the aquarium then?
Best Regards,
Milan
I forgot to ask. What PAR value can I expect at a water depth of 45 cm and a light height of 15 cm above the water surface?
Best Regards,
Milan
In the app you can add more than one light and setup them individually with the same settings. You can expect easily 150 par at that height.
Thank you
