JBL PROAQUATEST KH Refill – Carbonate Hardness Reagent Top-Up
Extend the life of your alkalinity testing kit with the JBL PROAQUATEST KH Refill. This reagent top-up restores your kit’s capacity to measure carbonate hardness (KH) in dKH, helping you maintain stable pH and a healthy environment in both freshwater and marine aquariums.
Why choose the refill?
- Cost-effective: Replace only the reagent you’ve used, no need to buy a full kit.
- Less waste: Reuse your existing test vial and instructions.
- Reliable results: Fresh titrant for accurate, repeatable readings.
- Freshwater & marine: Suitable for all aquarium types.
What’s included
- Replacement KH titration reagent
Note: This is a refill pack. It does not include a test vial/cuvette or instruction leaflet. Use with your existing JBL ProAquaTest KH kit.
How to use (with your existing kit)
- Fill your original JBL vial to the mark with sample water.
- Add one drop at a time of the refill reagent, swirling gently after each drop.
- Stop at the distinct colour change (typically blue/green to yellow).
- Reading: Number of drops added = KH in dKH (e.g., 6 drops = 6 dKH).
- Record the value and adjust maintenance if needed.
Pro tips
- Test KH weekly and after large water changes or dosing.
- Keep technique consistent (sample volume, drop size, mixing) for repeatability.
- Raise KH gradually with suitable buffers to avoid pH swings.
FAQs

Is a colour chart included?
No. Reuse the instructions and colour guidance from your original JBL KH kit.
What if my KH is low?
Increase KH slowly using a buffer or by adjusting your source water mix (e.g., RO/tap blend), and re-test.
Keep your buffering checks simple and sustainable with the JBL PROAQUATEST KH Refill.
