On online aquarium forums, you can find several recurring tips on how to deal with such a problem. Among other things, aquarists recommend installing a rain shower along with a powerful Filter, or – on an ad hoc basis – collecting dirt with a paper towel.

The effectiveness of SAS Filter 500 is due to its design. Water, along with surface impurities, enters the Filter chamber through a float. There it is subjected to filtration. The impurities Settle on a dense Sponge preFilter.

Pay special attention to clean the Sponge in the Filter regularly. A clogged or silted skimmer will cease to perform its function and maintain a crystal-clear surface in the aquarium. A clogged skimmer may also have its smoothness impaired and start to air up.

SAS Filter 500 is equipped with an energy-saving pump with high efficiency. This makes the device perfect even for large tanks (up to 500 l).

The device will also find use in smaller tanks. The water flow regulator allows you to easily adjust the performance of the Filter also in small aquariums from 20 liters.

Safe for the smallest aquarium inhabitants

The built-in Sponge preFilter prevents shrimps and small fish from accidentally getting into the motor chamber. If even an aquarium inhabitant gets inside the unit, it can be safely released by tilting the Filter sleeve over the aquarium.

In what situations to use SAS Filter 500?

We recommend using our skimmer especially in special situations and types of tanks:

• After servicing the tank – cyclic maintenance work in the aquarium (such as trimming vegetation) generates pollution on the water surface. Skimmer will clean the tiniest residue of stems or leaves, without the need for tedious collection of pieces floating on the surface.
• In open tanks – the lack of a cover promotes the deposition of a layer of dirt and dust on the water surface. Skimmer removes this problem by keeping the water clean and better gas exchange.
• In aquariums with a large fish population – more animals in the aquarium means, among other things, more uneaten food, which is also deposited on the water surface of the tank.

Think a skimmer won’t find use in your aquarium because, for example, you have a large number of floating plants? Keep in mind that the SAS Filter 500 skimmer can only be turned on for a certain period of time, at a time when it is needed. For example, you can use it to quickly and easily collect excess multiplied eyelashes.
